Born and raised in the village of Mangilao and like every other family on Guam we bbq'd every weekend and since and the lemon tree provided plenty for us we made all kinds of kelaguen all the time. There was a spirit of competition amongst the family about who can make the best kelaguen. But over time it just grew into a way of passing knowledge on from the old to the young. Life lessons, morals, and values were shared in a family connection over the making of the kelaguen during the bbqs every weekend. This is what we will represent, uphold, and pass on - the story of authenticity, heritage, and culture.
